I have an 1848 large cent, holed and and isn't in the greatest shape. What I found curious is instead of having 13 stars, I only count 11 compared to my 1850 large cent, which has 13. 16226770165946752421847121535762.jpg Not sure if they were evenly wore away, if this is a counterfeit or a true error. Just looking for general feedback and opinions, thanks! *Sorry for the glare* 1622676692049385103853756560154.jpg

The bottom one has suffered from extreme corrosion and some of the stars are just not visible or gone, besides it being holed just had a rough life.

Thank you, I just thought it odd that parallel to each other the stars would be worn away so completely and evenly.

The ground can do mysterious things to coins in many different ways.

That large cent and several other coins were given to me by a woman who's grandfather collected them. They sat in a ziplock bag for many years, before that who knows lol.
