I'm guessing a simple typo.... It was always my experience FEs that lived a harder than average life usually sell well under most guide "estimates", but it's possible this could've changed over the last few years.
I know 8 years ago when I started buyin FE's I could get F/VF for 20 -25$. Now those same condition coins go for well over 35$ - 45$. I wanted to put a full roll together but am stuck at 38 coins - I will not over spend just to get one. Every now and then I get lucky with a lower bid but not very often now a days!!
Ebay - The only coin shops around me are in Cleveland and that's 35 miles away -AND did I mention in Cleveland? Yikes!
Be aware if you do an online search of this coin 1857 FE that there is an abundance of fakes. According to the web sight they are manufactured on an Indian reservation and sold by the thousands.
