I was happy to recently get this coin at auction and rather liked it especially for the (under)grade.
I have worked for many years on the Victoria 6d and shilling currency series and have finished them with minor exceptions in the MS grades. I was only able to get the 1850 in AU58 and don’t have the non-overdate 1848 6d; of course I do not have the 1847 7d. The effort took quite a number of years and I took some auction “beatdowns” on a few of the dates before finally managing.

I'm not much of a collector of foreign coins. All I have are the coins from the various countries he served in during and after WWII.
What is your Six Pence coin made of? I have several coins from Great Britain. I have a 1954 Six Pence coin also a few small Pence coins. I doubt that my 1954 Six Pence is made from the same as yours. Anyway, thanks for showing us yours.

The above 6d is made from .925AR (sterling silver). Yours will be Cu-Ni, as the currency was debased following both World Wars - firstly to .500AR, and then (as with yours to base metal in 1947.

Nice - good feeling when you finish a set.

That is so, many stories of fortune and battle - being in the right place and right time, and even losses at auction or being just that little bit late to purchase a coin.
Also it is a good reference set but would not pay the TPGs the exorbitant fees to slab it up though many of the rarer bits are already.
