Can you please tell me the grade and wholesale and retail value of this coin? I took it to a dealer who offered me $200 for it which I think it very low.

$200 is very low, assuming it's genuine and problem-free. Looks decent to me.

Greysheet: VF $305; XF $500. I'm leaning toward XF details on this one.

$350-$400 would be a fair price to get for it...
If it is a cleaned coin, maybe a little less, but nowhere close to that $200!
You might do better on eBay... If he won't offer more than $250...

How did you acquire this coin.
I am slightly suspicious. It may be a fake.
Check weight and see if magnetic??
Seems some of the details do not match known examples.

There are no fakes that good. If there were, coin collecting is over. I am not trying to convince you because I am not offering it for sale. I bought it about 10 years ago, and dont have access to greysheet. So, I wanted some opinions on current value.

    Unfortunately, that is not true.
Maybe I have become jaded, but I see so many fakes these days.
And when I see a coin such as yours (very nice in great condition with no apparent problems).
Hopefully I did not offend you, it was not my intention.
You do have an exemplary coin that anyone would be proud to own.

I would not sell this coin especially for that.

I would not sell this coin especially for that. It is a perfect coin for a type set - I love it!

Personally, I think it is a great coin. It looks just as good, if not better than the certified XF ones I've seen. Definitely worth more than $200. Although it looks real to me, FarmerB makes a goode point. There are lots of quality fakes out there, especially seated dollars. If I were you, I would send it out to be graded to PCGS, NGC, or ANACS. I wouldn't at all be surprised if it was a problem free XF-45.

I own an 1847 Seated Dollar (PCGS AU50) so if you're interested in comparing the coin to mine, see the link in my signature.

P.S. I like your coin and wouldn't sell it.

It appears slightly more worn than Catberts. Nice type coins by the way catbert. I like your 2 cent piece and barber quarter.

I think that it has XF details. The wear and color look awesome. I'd pay you more than $200 any day. That's a good coin to hold onto and keep.
