I have been spending some time looking at large Cents. My father is trying to put together a set of 1847 Large Cents by their attruibition Number. We have been looking around and I am wnating to buy a nice au/unc example for christmas. He likes coins with eye appeal and clean surfaces. Any suggestions on other places to buy. I've checked ebay, heritage, teletrade, great collections, but would like to add some other places to look as I help him put together this set. Any ideas?

Try out going onto Shawn Yancey's site (earlycoppercoins.com) or Chris McCawley's site (earlycents.com). They have lots of incredible coppers money can buy. Either will have what your looking for.

Great, you'll have a field day roaming Chris's site.

There is also The Penny Lady, and Tom Deck. You can also try Northeast coins and NFC coins - they usually have a few graded Large Cents.

1847 is a tough year, for some reason, to find nice coins. That set will be a real challenge.

I've been looking at some of the sites that you all have suggested nice coins. I have been bidding on a few and losing of coarse. Is it possible if any of you have the pop reports for the 1847's?

Join Heritage (www.ha.com) and you can get TPG pop reports by searching for past examples.

You can buy a copy of copper quotes by robinson (CQR) from Shawn that gives you EAC rarity estimates and pricing information too.
