Picked up this coin this am. Looks like an N-13 to me. CCR lists the approx value of $155 for an EAC grade of VF30. Do you think this coin makes that grade? http://www.ebay.com/itm/361681017767?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
In my opinion, yes. There is a subjective thin line between EAC 25 and 30 but one may argue that it does meet the criteria for VF30. CCR says there should be a heavy break through 'MER'. Is it there? Very nice coin by the way. An excellent purchase.
Thanks Eduard. The die crack is not as pronounced as some examples but it looks to be in the right position on reverse. Date position looked right also.
looks like an n13 to me, that die crack starts lighter and gets heavier. I agree with Edward, 35 to 30 is subtle, I look at wear at hair over war, lowest curl, and liberty. If I had to choose, this is a 25. A little more detail in the hair over the ear, or a little less wear at liberty, and I could see 30.
OK I thought that was what our meant but I wasn't sure. In that case it may be an even better deal because those CQR prices are probably 5 to 7 years old
