This one looked like an N-16 R5- to me. Hoping the color is off on the picture and it looks more brown rather than orange. Around F-12 or so?? Anyone with an EAC price guide tell me the approx. value of this coin in this grade? Thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/1846-tall-d...rnu9Pb5TELwvNlqXOEQR8%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
It is possible the color is off, but looks more like a cleaning to me. To hard to say from the pictures. I did not try to attribute it.
Looks like an N16 to me, i would call it 12 net 10. Agree with you and other that I can't say anything about the color from that photo. Could be original could be cleaned. I think the price is about right. I have been meaning to take photo's of my 46 N16, so thanks for the opportunity. This variety has four die states with the last two having cuds. State C has one cud from *10-11, and state D adds a cud from star *9-10. This is a very rough die state D, rare with 11 known and this being basically the worst.
Here is the Holmes coin for reference on where the cuds are: http://images.goldbergauctions.com/php/lot_auc.php?site=1&sale=62&lot=158
