Good evening Im curious what folks think of this half. I believe its a medium O 1846. Im curious what grade it might get and any possible variety beyond the medium O.
Thanks for the answers thus far. Hopefully some other chime in. Would it be worth grading and are there any varieties associated with these.
IMO, it looks like it's been recently dipped. There appears to be some luster left, but I really can't tell how much from the pictures. I would have loved to see this coin before the dipping. I'd say AU50.
Surfaces look dull and void of any luster, looks dipped. Grade wise, IMHO just based on the technicals looks AU50 or so to me

The coin looks lifeless in the photos, but perhaps it's a scanned image that doesn't do justice to the coin. Do you have a particular price range, grade, and/or appearance objective?
Didn't have a big price range or grade in mind. I was browsing at a Lcs and came across a few of these. Honestly I would have to go back again and see if it looks better in hand again versus the photo. It was stated on the flip medium date and dealer graded upper AU. I'll see if I can get a somewhat better photo early next week. Treasurehunt, thanks for the book reference!
