    G'day,

While gold prospecting I came across this 1843 threepence in the Victorian goldfields in Australia. It's been sitting in the dirt for 150 years so it's in pretty poor condition but just thought I'd throw a post up and see if anyone had any comments or idea of value.

I imagine there are heaps of these out there... is there any value in the story behind it? or is it just an 1843 threepence in very poor condition? what would be the official catergory for this coin's condition? Is there any way to clean it up a bit?

    Cheers
    Tim

PS Am I the only one who has found that not being able to upload images to posts directly from my harddrive extremely frustrating?

Tim,this coin is very common. As to its worth,it is good as scrap sterling silver (.925 fine). It is absolutely munted as its condition is too far gone to be worth anything as a coin.By the way, this is a British coin.

    Aidan.
