1840 'O' Seated Dime: attribution help please

Recently added this seated dime to my collection of US dimes. It is outside my area of Bust Dimes but it is an early date, and it is from the New Orleans mint which to me adds to its appeal.

Anyway, I would appreciate it if anybody can help with attribution of this 'O' mint dime (according to the Forting numbers?). It does seem to be the small mintmark variety, which I believe are the commonest for the year.

Thanks for the help and any comments,

    Eduard

Going off if the phone it looks to be either

    F-106 or F-106a

I'll look at it from the laptop tonight or tommorow when I get home

Thank you very much Jello and KoinJester. It is not that I am unable to follow the directions for attribution in the link Jello kindly provided (very interesting!), but the darned coins are so small.....

Actually, I find attributing large cents (the early ones) much easier. Maybe because they are large and the die differences more obvious.

    I appreciate the help, guys.

Sorry can't help with the attribution, but it does look like a small o based off the link. Very nice coin Eduard.

Thanks for the comments guys. I never would have guessed there are some many varieties of seated dimes. This is new to me.

KoinJester, it seems that F-106 is one of the 'medium O' varieties.
Mine seems to be a small O so it is probably another variety - but which? I have looked at it closely and I detect no signs of any die breaks around the legends on the reverse. I guess it is one of the more common ones.

Nice coin. That's the look I love in seated dimes.

Ok, with my handy Leuchtturm 40X microscope I am seeing minor recutting at start 9 and 10, and more noticeable at star 12. However, I do not see any varieties listed for small O with recut stars 9, 10 and 12? hey, maybe I have a new variety?

    Eduard, is star 9 repunched?

    http://www.seateddimevarieties.com/date_mintmark/1840o_109page.htm

When I was trying to get the denticle measurement yesterday on the phone I was 1 denticle off and I completely missed the weak O of one that would of ruled out the 106

KoinJester, hi, yes star 9 is repunched as shown in the picture. Star 12 is more clearly repunched. So that makes it F-109 (i guess). Thanks for you help!
