1839 Seated Half

    Team,

    What do you guys think about this 1839 Seated *drapery at elbow* Half Dollar. It's in great shape all except for that little bit of scratching??? on the reverse left field.

    Ignoring the damage, I'd say it looks to be about vf-20.

    Big Z, the old boy who scratched it probably did it before the Civil War :D

    I think Zaneman is undergrading that coin. I'd call it XF-45-AU-50, VF-35 with the damage. i don't see much evidence of wear.

    I would also call it VF20 , maybe VF30.

    That is a scanned pic . right ... a regular pic may change my opinion.

    Yes, it was copied from a scanned picture after I bought the coin. Haven't got it in hand yet. When I do I'll post pictures, I always use pictures.

    I would call it EF-40. It does look to have been cleaned sometime in the past-OR is that just me?

    Kinda hard to tell from the pics but I'll say EF-40 details net VF scratched and cleaned.

    So now that you've bought up all the decent bust halves,you're going to grab all the seateds?.Save some for the rest of us..OK?:mad:

    Oh Sir, please rest at ease. This will only be the 2nd (decent) Seated Half I have and as I'm sure you know there are hundreds of Bust Halves for sale all over the place :D
