    Team,

As many of ya'll know I try to specialize in Bust Halves, but occasionally ( frightenly frequent :-D ) I deviate from my love and obtain other, shall I say "numismatic memorabilia." This little gem is the result of one of my forays. What do you think? The little squiggle on the reverse kept it from costing me high VF or XF $$ but I wanted the first year of the series in respectable condition and for me, and this is the one :)

    Thanks for looking

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

Congrats on the new purchase. I think no motto seated halves are by far the most attractive of the liberty seated coinage, and I like your example...Mike

If you like halves try for the 1839 "No Drape" - it's still available although difficult to find at higher grades. Nice coin you got, too bad about the mark.

Bone, I think I said in the other thread I would grade that a vf-20. I'm thinking more of a 35-40 now, after seeing some more at work, and looking in my ANA book. Nice coin!!

    Big Z,

Thanks for taking a second look. If it didn't have that little squiggle I wouldn't have gotten it as it would have been "toooo" costly. It fits in the criteria of my other half-dollars, all purchased under a hundred bucks. I have also noticed that the prices of older halves has stabalized and maybe even begun to drop.

Due to the drought we're having here we sold all the cattle back in May (only 10 of them, LOL) we have except three good cow/calf pairs, so I've got a little cash on my hip now.

    Again Thanks for looking

Wow, that is impressive that you got it for under a hundred, regardless of the squiggle. I haven't seen too many of them around period, and even the g-4 ones seem to sell for about 50.

Actually, it was $103. Still pretty close.
