Here is an usual 1838/37 Montreal (UN SOU) Token, Commerce and Agriculture. I'd appreciate any further information on this Lower Canadian issue if you've got any. Thanks Take Care Ben
Hard to say as theres lots of variety's and I have no clue as to which one the above is. The dot instead of a dash between Bass-Canada makes me think its a Montreal issue (as apposed to Birmingham or Belleville) which was commonly struck on other tokens. Might be worth around $8CND in VG.
Ben,that is a very nice Montreal Bouquet 1 Sou token you've got there. This is listed as a coin in the 19th. Century Krause token. There are some varieties that are listed in Charlton, but not in Krause, but they should be listed in Krause as well. Aidan.
Nice coin, Ben. There are several varieties of this listed in Breton's book and it's a fun series to collect. It looks like new edition of Charlton doesn't list these early tokes anymore. Does anybody know if there is a separate book of these Canadian tokens by Charlton? Regards Ballabh Garg
Ballabh, there is a separate Charlton token catalogue. It has cross-references to Courteau numbers as well. There is also a separate Charlton banknote catalogue as well. Aidan.
