1837 Capped Bust Half Dollar

    Heya everyone! :)

    I just thought I'd share my most recent acquisition.... the 1837 Capped Bust Half Dollar! :D

    It has really nice details and looks much better in person. :eat: Let me know ya'll opinions! ;)

    I do not have any of the reeded edge busties, amazing how different yet similar the design is. for instance in the lettered edge version miss liberty is facing 7 stars not 6, just looking at details I would agree that it is about uncirculated, but then didnt they get a steam press for the lettered edge ones, instead of using the old screw press? I would not say anything with any sort of coinfidence seeing as how lacking I am in knowledge of this coin. I had heard tha they had quite a bit of trouble transitioning to steam power.

    I might be wrong, but it looks cleaned to me. But still, 19th century halves are great in any grade.

    Yes, it looks like it might of gotten a light clean some time ago, but the reverse looks really nice and practically untouched. ;) I can see very few hairlines on the obverse, but other than that, it's a great piece! :D
