1834 N-6 mid to late die state with a doubled profile from machine doubling. These dies were not hubbed and so they do not have "doubled dies" as we generally know them.

Thanks - does it carry a premium?

A small one, perhaps. There are only two varieties of the large 8, large stars, large letters. The N6 and N7. The N6 is an R3.

I've been looking for an upgrade to mine for some time, and would be happy to have this one in my set.

And the N-7 is still an R-7 with the 8th known specimen, a VG-8, being cherrypicked just a couple weeks ago. N-7 is a proof only issue with six of the known pieces being proofs and the other two impaired proofs net grading at VG-8.

I think N-6's carry a premium just because it seems like demand is high for that variety and the N-5. At times it seems like it is an R-5 with the prices - especially around ebay.

There is probably some extra demand because it is the only realistic variety to get the large 8,stars, and letters. You aren't going to get the N-7. (N-5 has medium letters but it is just plain rare.)
