I need someone with a copy of "Early United States Dimes 1796-1837" by David J. Davis et al.

My 1834 has possibilities of being a rarer variety according to Breen, but his picture leaves a LOT to be desired.

    Kanga,

Pics, pics, pics! If we could view a picture of the coin, someone here on Coin Talk may be able to help! Also, go to www.pcgs.com and click on Coinfacts on the left side menu. This will take you to a menu where you can select the type and denomination of coin that you are seeking information on.Once you get to the 1834 Dime, then check out for a list of Varieties on the right side of the page and see if one listed is the same as your coin. Coinfacts gives some information of Auction prices for the coin as well as varieties.

Okay, here's the current image I have.
The coin is either a Breen 3204 or 3205.

I've been to the PCGS site, and this is beyond their listing.
They don't go to this depth in variety identificatioon.

kanga - if you care to become a member you can probably find the info you seek on-line - JRCS

And if you wish, you can examine pics of of the varieties JR-1 thru Jr-7 here - Russ Logan Collection

I saw the JRCS site, but since my coin is part of a typeset it doesn't merit my joining.
They concentrate on pre-Seated Liberty coins of which I only have a few, and am not concentrating on collecting in that time period.

The Russ Logan Collection on first view seems to be of help.
I'll have to spend more time there.
