I purchased this coin a few years ago. I have showed it to a few avid coin collectors and they have suggested I crack it out and resubmit it for grading. It is graded by ANACS as an AU DETAILS NET EF40 GRAFFITI-Cleaned. The graffiti must be the scratch marks. The S in STATES is also a bit of a mint error. What would you do if it was your coin?? Sorry but it is tough to get a good pic through the plastic.

Those don't look like ramdom scratches, it looks like graffiti. I can't tell about the cleaning though, there is a lot of nice color on her. The only grading company with a good reputation that will grade that coin is ANACS.

If she was mine, I'd leave her where she is. I think she has personality and I like her!! ;) Thanks for sharing.

I'd leave the coin as is.

no matter what you do that coin is going to come back to you with the grafitti and cleaned labels, so breaking it out wouldn´t do you any good.

    Leave it as is.

    Hello,
Yes they are silver and it is not a half cent. You are right it a half dime. I did not even notice I put half cent until now. Thanks. These are small coins about 15.5 mm. Thant is 1.5 mm larger than a silver 3 cent piece. I bought this one pretty cheap. Thanks for looking.
