I have a large cent and when turned around it is rotated some i was wandering if this was commen on old coins?
Awesome! --since I collect them. How much is it rotated? If you aren't sure how to tell, please go to http://www.rotateddies.com/ then click on "Measuring Coins". If it's rotated 90 degrees or more, then you got a good one. Less than 90 degrees, you're looking at limited interest. If it has less than 30 degrees, little-to-no interest. I just checked my inventory, from the 1830's, I have rotated large cents from 1830, 1833, and 1836.
Here are the population estimates for large cents, rotated from 90 to 180 degrees from the rotated die census. R5 = 31-80 specimens, R6 = 13-30 specimens. 1816 Coronet 1 cent R5 1816 Coronet 1 cent R5 1816* Coronet 1 cent R5 1817* N16 Coronet 1 cent 15 stars R6 1818 Coronet 1 cent R5 1822 N8 Coronet Large cent R6 1829 N8 Coronet 1 cent R5 1830* Coronet 1 cent R5 1833 Coronet 1 cent R6 1834 Coronet 1 cent R5 1835 N3 Coronet 1 cent R5 1835 N9 Coronet 1 cent R5 1840 Coronet 1 cent R5 1854 Coronet 1 cent R5
