1836 Bust Dime Die Crack Just bought this coin. I know the grade could be better, but for its age it's pretty good, and I couldn't pass it up. This is my oldest coin I have with a crack.
That's a pretty good crack - almost rim-to-rim. I'm sure that obverse die didn't strike many more coins after this one.
I am interested in why people like die cracks? Isn't that damage that decreases from the over all eye appeal.
ppratt: Nice piece, and sure it could be better condition, you could have gotten an MS-63, but then it could have been better with an MS-65. Enjoy what you have, not what you can't afford, or you'll never collect anything.
