Howdy penny collector - Welcome to the Forum !!

Exactly what kind of coin are you asking about - is it an 1831 penny from Great Britain ?

Total mintage for the copper penny KM#707 in 1831 is listed in the 2001 3rd Ed. 19th Century SCWC as 806,000, in three varieties; but there is no breakdown of the individual varieties.

Without incuse initials on the truncation of William IV's neck it is valued at $12.50 F, $40 VF, $120 XF and $450 Unc. ".W.W" initials are listed at $15-$460, and "W.W" initials are listed at $20-500.

Although it is described as "VF", IMHO that would be optimistic even if it had not been cleaned with artificial-looking partial "retoning". I really don't think it's worth more than VG money - a whole heck of a lot less than the asking price.

That is a very nice coin you have there,Roy.

Roy,that is a very nice coin you have got there,Roy.Usually the copper coins of King William IV (1830-37) are very worn when they turn up,especially Farthings & Pennies.

The pictures in my post are of the coin that the original poster inquired about - not mine.

I don't understand where you got the wrong impression from anything in my post Aidan. [IMG]
