I came across a bust half today that has an unusual cud. Under the wing on the left side, there appears to be a bit of extra metal (original to the minting process, I believe). Is anyone familiar with something like this? Is this a known error or variety?

    1) It is not a cud.
A cud must include the rim.

    2) It MAY be a die chip/break.
    3) Not listed (specifically) in Overton.
However, the pictures are not good enough for me to attribute to Overton

Not familiar with that defect and so far cannot find any reference to it, but I was able to attrib the half. It is an 0-111. So with that you can search for that date and attrib and maybe find another coin with that defect.
