Not sure if it's the lighting, but it sure looks like it's been cleaned.

    Grade- Fine Details
    Value- $30-$35

    Nice score! :)

i think its just the patina on it, the dark spots are deeeep purple, lighter color is coppery. the dealer said it wasnt cleaned? hope he didnt lie?

1830 Large letters, don't know other attributions for it, VF details previous cleaning. I have no experience in Large cents, but it is a nice coin. Take my advice as a grain of sand and maybe post it on CT. As for value, I think $70 is about right. if it is not cleaned. About $35-40 if it is cleaned.

Just because he got the coin for a good deal doesn't mean he has to turn it around for quick profit... :rollling:

He asked for the value in the OP, didn't he? Is this not "What's it Worth?"

Yes, but I think iGradeMS70 was responding to one of the previous posts about the OP turning around to just list it to sell it immediately.

I agree with the others that the coin appears to have been cleaned. I see a darkness around the devices where the cleaning didn't get and the fields have a much lighter color and appear to have some fine scratches. The dead giveaway that there has been a cleaning for me is that around the stars...in all the nooks and crannies there is darkness...this is the area where often time a cleaning attempt can't quite get to.

However, for $10 you did great. I agree with the others that it has VF details and is probably worth in the $30 range.

well even if it is cleaned its worth more than i paid so when i get to the point of collecting large cents i can sell it/trade it for a nicer one.

I agree with Cazkaboom's assessment...too bad it's not "Medium Letters"...and it's been cleaned. Still, you got a very nice deal!! :thumb:

Of course...I'm not sure if your photo label is a doubled die or machine doubled

Gotta be a doubled die. See the split serifs?
