This is the first doily holder I have ever seen. I picked it up this past weekend at a local coin show.
Nice luster, but would you call that more of an AU62 or worn dies? Looks like some high spots are missing a little detail from what I am used to. It could be the lighting, too, though I suppose. Shiny white coins are tough to photograph.
That's a good point they are not known to have weak strikes but the cheek does not look well struck. Still very beautiful.
It's a decent coin... Not struck very well but it's an old school 62. I was tempted to crack it and shoot for a 63, but rather than loose the cool holder I think I'll just be submitting it to CAC.
