I bought this coin a little while ago, but I haven't posted it yet. @messydesk recently took these excellent pictures, so I figured I'd share it. The second set of pictures are mine. Guess the grade, and Overton. This grade on this one is going to be hard!
I'm edging out on the limb on this one but I'm calling it MS-63. The coin is obviously struck from tired dies - stars and legends drawn to rim, weak STATES, even the olive leaves are drawn to the rim. The bust drapery folds are weak but I don't think I see any wear. Luster's always hard for me to determine from photos. I see quite a lot but the fields look at little dull on the obverse. I don't see much at all in the way of nicks or hits anywhere. So, MS-63 but only due to the luster question. Could be a 64.
O 116. I’m going to go ms 62 I really don’t see true circulation. And definitely less than most cbh that are au-58. But I do see some bag marks from it’s time as the largest silver coinage
I think MS obverse but an AU reverse. NET: AU-58 But the flow lines really got my attention. I like them.
It would have been an MS-66, except for that depression on the Ms. Liberty's cheek. It's in an unfortunate spot. I'm going to say MS-64. It's definitely better than the slider I bought in an MS-63 holder. That was one of my poorer purchases.
Haha, I do have a PL bust half, but I bought that years ago. Good guesses, everyone, I will reveal this evening!
Yup, it is definitely the O-116, considered an R3. This one is super easy for those of you who use Dave's bust half site... since this is the example coin! http://maibockaddict.com/1825-o-116-r3-capped-bust-half-dollar.shtml
I looked at it and debated between 58 and 63. I’m going to guess that it graded 58 but looks better than most 63s
Good guesses everybody! PCGS called this one an MS-64. Several of you got it right, which is awesome!
