    Hey guys,

I was wondering your thoughts on if this is non-mint damage or if it is a planchet flaw/defect which resulted in this die crack. Also do you think this 1823/2 Large Cent would grade problem free by a TPG?

It looks like a delamination and is as struck. Coin looks nice but those hairline scratches on the obverse will keep it out of a problem free holder.

I love the coin. Need one this nice for my set.

It looks to be a decent coin overall, but problem free she unfortunately is not.

The obv has a planchet lamination. Whether it would get a problem free slab is questionable, but who cares. That is still a very attractive coin and a MUCH better than average example of the 23/2. A 23 this nice is very hard to find.

Just a thought, but perhaps the OP questioning if the coin would grade out was simply his way of trying to learn what will and will not get a pass?

It looks like it's had a past cleaning to me, which would land it in a details slab. Then again that could just be the lighting. Nice lamination, though. :)
