Comparing it to Pcgs pics, I said the same thing, but I don't know anything about old silver coins when it comes to the toning. Thank you
Thinking about getting it slabbed. Do you think that scratch on the field, in front of her face, will get the coin a details holder? I dont think this coin has been cleaned. No surface rubbing and no chemical residue at the field/device joints.
I would understand if it was a high grade coin, it would most likely get a detail holder for that scratch, but not a Fine grade coin, no?
I was thinking about that too , from the pics it seems like a borderline call in whether they'd grade it or detail it , I think they'd grade it IMHO but you'll never know till you try . Also I'd leave it as it is unless you could get in on someones bulk grading to save a few bucks . I collect Bust halves and crack most out , only the higher graded ones stay slabbed .
Keep in mind that with older coins, a fresh scratch is often viewed differently than an obviously old one.
I say F15, the scratch looks like an old scratch so it should stay out of a details holder. Maybe they will put it in a F12 holder because of the scratch but who knows..!!
A website has this listed as VF25 (neat die clash too). But if this is what a graded VF25 looks like maybe yours could get a VF20??
I feel the top of the head, the cheek under the eye, the jaw to neck seperation and the overall reverse will keep it out of a VF holder. But we will see!
