Here is a really! nice 1821 Capped Bust Half which I attributed as an O-101a (R-1). I took the pictures at a slight angle inorder to try and capture the luster which is still apparent on the coin. It's had some wear and an older cleaning (the toning is returning near the 50 C.) but I still think it's a nice AU-55/58 example. Any feedback?

    Thanks for looking

    Bone,
I personally would call it slightly lower. Probably around a 53. I like the coin quite a bit! :)

I wish I could capture the reflective properties of the fields. I've never seen a CBH with this kind of luster. I'm not kidding, there are DMPL Morgans with less reflection than this one has. It has an very weak strike on top of it.

    Thanks for taking a look.

Ben...nice coin. Try using a tripod and expose for a few seconds under light at a 45 degree angle above the coin and 3 ft away from it. Make sure your lens is steped down to f8 or f11. Turn off all lights except the one used for exposure and play with it to get the right angle. Then shoot!!!
Looks like your light is coming from the bottom right of the coin.

    Nice video as well....

Ben, I'm not sure what to make of the reflectivity, except that that must have been a KNOCKOUT when it was first minted. I've seen a few like yours, but let me tell you, they are scarce. I would hold onto yours. : )
