I've noticed that all of these crowns have some sloppy die work on the reverse under St George and the dragon. Does anyone know any further information on the reasons around it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GEORGE-III-18...itemZ8340529727QQcategoryZ98772QQcmdZViewItem Thanks Bone P.S. Here is mine with the same sloppy die work.
Bone, that is a very worn coin of the last coinage Crown (5 Shillings) of King George III.I have got an 1820 with 2 mount marks on the obverse in my collection as a spacefiller. Aidan.
Nevertheless it's the (MS70 top pop 1819) in my collection, LOL. After further research it appears to be a pattern anomaly from 1819-1820. Bone
Holy Smoke, it appears to be the only coin with a "POP-OUT" sloted area for chain/necklace wear. That large O appears to be a punch spot on BU/AU examples!!! Bone
Yeah - but it's still sloppy. They didn't get the dang spot centered at 6 o'clock - makes the coin hang crooked on a necklace
