I have a 1817 50c Cap Bust Half, and was wondering if it's an error coin with an Overton number or just someone got bored and decided to take off a star. Any help would be great. O-number/price.

    Thanks guys.

    Definitely looks intentionally-done.

I'd give you and Overton number if I weren't on my iPhone at Starbucks, but judging by the spacing of the date, I'm guessing it's either a punctuated date or the later die state (w/ out the decimal)

That was my gut feeling, but with so many variations in this series I wanted to make sure... so, with the missing star... that would put the value somewhere bewteen $40-$70 at a retail establishment?
