Been a while since I posted one of my new EAC purchases.

I'm finding that my imaging skills are deteriorating.

Wow, what a nice early cent!

So many EACs suffer from poor surfaces - corroded, pitted, grainy, etc. Particularly the Classic Heads are known for this. This coin is a refreshing exception.

Whoa! Nice! Don't feel bad. Dark coppers are tough to photograph.

White balance out of whack? Otherwise superb.

Well, it's in focus and that's more than I can say of many on-line and auction listings. Now, is the color accurate? The "steelie" look is a legitimate color for early copper but I don't really recall seeing it on this series.

Anyway, nice coin and definitely nice surfaces for this series which is often dark and pitted.

I agree, photos look fine and that's a great looking example, not struck on some corroded barrel-hoop copper that was the norm in those days!

For a classic head that is a very nice coin.

Does Classic mean it’s the first type of lady liberty on a cent?

No, it is just the name for the design type. The 1793 Chain and Wreath cents were flowing hair, then there was the 1793 - 96 Liberty caps, then the 1796 - 1807 Draped Bust, then 1808 - 1814 Classic heads, 1816 - 1839 Matron Heads, and finally 1839 to 1857 Braided Hair.

Nothing wrong with your imaging skills. Shooting through a slab is more difficult than trying to image something raw. Nice coin!

Very nice for a Classic Head. With that brown photo background, it looks like it's in a Dansco album instead of the PCGS slab it is actually in!

No, Lady Liberty was on several earlier types of cents. "Classic" in this case refers to the appearance of this particular Lady Liberty, who is styled in classical fashion. ("Classical" referring to ancient Greek and Roman style.)
