1812 Bust Half grade??

    I got this bust half a week ago.
    Not really sure about the grade.
    I see no ware on the cheek or the ends of the wings.
    I use these as markers.
    What do you think.

    The images are a bit dark but I would guess it grades AU something. Nice coin.

    Agreed looks AU to me. As for grading on the obverse I do no think the cheek is considered one of the high points. The top of cap, hair above eye, hair curls and drapery on bust are what I use. The pictures are dark, but looks like just a touch of wear. On reverse I use top of eagle head, left wing, talons and arrow heads. Then it becomes a point of weak strike versus wear. Very nice coin.

    I would agree with a low AU, it is a very attractive coin :thumb:
