1808 East India Company

A very nice looking coin from the East India Company. I can’t read the other side but I do have major doubts about this coin, especially being this nice for it’s age. 214 years?

That is a shipwreck coin from the Admiral Gardner.
It sat in the ocean for 175 years.

I have read some where that the coin barrels were filled with wax to protect the copper coins from sea water in the lowest part of the ship.

 

Not all made it back in good condition.
