1807 Quarter Dollar

    Chuckle, I purchased this coin as a Half-Dollar... Can you guess what (scarce variety) it is? I'm sure this coin had been cleaned at some point of it's life, maybe even been a piece of jewelry. It reeks of history though. What do you think?

    Looks like the rare "Scratched Out 25" variety.

    Chuckle, I think that's one of the reason's the seller was parting with it as a half-dollar. I e-mailed them and said it's a half but they wanted to auction to ride. Got it for about $40 I recall. Already been offered multiples of that for the coin, but I don't sell em... Just collect em. :)

    Hint, reverse die-crack...

    BTW... I know absolutley JACK about the Bust series.

    PS... Is that a lamanation error and clash on the obv ?

    B-2 you win a cookie... I think it's more of where the jewelry clasp might have bee attached, but lamination sounds plausible when I take a closer look. Besides it sounds more numismatically correct so I'll go along with that, LOL...
