Hi, all. I just got this 1806 quarter in yesterday, and I could use some help with the attribution. I'm terrible at attributions, having not studied, and having no references. If I had Browning and Fivaz standing next to each other, I couldn't tell them apart. By the way, it's in an old ANACS holder; G-6. Thanks!
I'm in the same boat as you with the attribution thing, but cool coin. P.S. I like it more than your other 1806.
I wish I could tell you, but I don't have any of the ref material for quarters, just never really haven't gotten into it...yet.
The closest one I could find was a B-3. :goofer: http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=434&Lot_No=418 Nice! :thumb: Ribbit
Yes - a B-3. The browning book shows b-2 and b-3 having the same obverse. The difference is the reverse - if the reverse has 25 where 5 touchs the arrows then it is B-2, if the 5 does not touch the arrows then it is B-3. Also B-3 is the only one of the type that the 5 does not touch a device. Nice coin by the way.
Thank you so much. I'm a little bummed to hear it's common, but that's what I bought it as, so no big loss. Thanks. I like it too. I love the early quarters. I like the capped bust, but when you put them next to a draped bust...wow.
Yep - I agree, but what makes it uncommon is how original it looks. It seems like any decent bust babies(anything less than a half and greater than a cent) are hard to come by. Within reason I try to get all I see at the local coin shop.
Nice coin with pretty toning. I like how the eagle stands out in cameo contrast on the rev. Definitely a keeper!
