I know that there are roughly 8 known to exsist Would it be illegal to own a counter fit specimen? I know there are many many many counter fit coins out there.I was just curious what would happen to someone if they had one.

Yep... roughly 8 real ones and 8 million phoney ones. Most of the copies coming out of China are quite obviously fake; the problem is that they are rarely stamped "COPY". If you buy one for two bucks and try to sell it as genuine... well, that's fraud. You may own it, but can't sell it as a real coin.

    No, 15 known....but there's three classes.

  5. I believe that if it has COPY on it, and it was bought/sold as a copy, it would be acceptable
