Hi! I have posted this coin recently, but now I am just asking for a second opinion on its variety attribution. The AMERICAI reverse has two obverse die varieties - the BB-191/B-11 and BB-192/B-19. I think the posted coin is a BB-192, because it has not a low 8, but I think there might be a mistake on PCGS' photo attached - that the 191 and 192 has been changed. So my questions are: - Is the pictured coin really a BB-192? - Has PCGS attributed the coins on the photo wrong? (mixed 191 and 192). Thanks for any help with my slight confusion!
It's B-19. The base of the 1 is much further from the 8 on B-11. The picture showing the two dates positions is labeled backwards. The low 8 is on B-10 and 11, and the 0 is closer to the bust on 19 than on 11. Star 13 is closer to the bust on 19 than on 11. The point of the 1 points just below the curl on 11 but into the bottom quarter of the curl on 19. The point of the 1 is also closer to the curl on 19. This is based on imaged in Jules Reivers The United States Early Silver Dollars 1794 to 1803. I don't know when my copy of Bolander is at the moment.
