Recently purchased on e bay two uncertified 1799 silver dollars. They passed the magnet test, sight inspection, and diameter measurement. However, their weights were 26.72 grams and 26.39 grams.
That is less thans the standard which is 26.9 grams.
Should I be concerned? Thanks, Marty

Welcome to Coin Talk. Photos of the coins are imperative to get a decent answer to your question. Post pics and hang on for the comments.

I will get the photos. In the meantime, are the weights an issue? Marty

Thanks for the welcome. I will get the photos, but in the meantime are those weights an issue?

Depends on the amount of wear but I would agree the second one seems low. They didn't have an official tolerance standard on those but I would assume they kept it fairly tight. Later when they did have an official standard it was .09 grams. With some wear 26.72 night be believable, but 26.39 I would question.
