:stooge: Could anyone tell me about a coin I have. It is a 1795 silver dollar, It was misprinted because it's strike was in the time that one designer died from yellow fever and the other designer stepped up. So the coins face was by a different designer than the coins back. The coin is in execellent condition. No signs of wear!!!!!:thumb:

With no more info than you have given us the best I can do is give you a price range. It is worth between $5 and $500,000. The low end of the scale represents it's value as a curiosity if it is fake (a very likely possibility with this coin) and the high end of the spectrum represents the coin's value if it is one of the highest graded pieces available (according to my research there hasn't been a MS65+ one of these sold at auction in nearly a decade!).

Pictures are necessary to try to narrow the price range down a bit unless the coin is professionally graded by a reputable Third Party Grading Company, in which case the pricing would be much simpler.

    research...

We have done a lot of research on the coin. We bought it from an older gentelman that had it put away. We weighed it and it was the same wait, I can't tell that it has any of the traditonal tradmarks of a fake. I don't have the coin here with me so I can't post a picture right now. I hope to have it by Monday so I can post it.

It is confusing indeed. Everything I can find credits Robert Scot with the complete design of all US dollars from 1794-1804.

I don't understand. If you have done a lot of research, you should be more than aware that there are plenty of counterfeits out there. As well as, often a person who does not know much about numismatics would claim that a good condition coin could range from a VF - UNC because of their age factor.

Indeed a picture will help but do not be disappointed if it is a counterfeit.
