What do you guys think of this item? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1795-Flowin..._Individual&hash=item3a6e3caea8#ht_500wt_1202
I like it...but I don't like the pictures. It appears to be a Cohen-6, but it's not clear which planchet stock is used... Cohen-6a-R: Rolled Copper (R3) Cohen-6b-S: Spoiled Cent (R6) Cohen-6c-T: Talbot, Allum, Lee (R2) ...if I had to guess, based on the pictures provided, I would "guess" it's Cohen-6a. It would have been nice if ANACS had listed the attribution on the label.
well by judging by the pictures, it looks damaged. I would say it's scratched and I even think I see some corrosion on it too. Other than that I would probably grade is a VG 8 and from what I can guess from my info, it's the plain edge type since it's a 1795. Anymore questions feel free to ask!
Me? I have a few higher grade examples of this variety. However, if I didn't, I think it's a nice coin at a fair price. I don't see anything that makes me think it's not genuine (the reverse looks pretty nice). The question is...what are you looking for? Are you trying to build a collection and need to fill a hole or are you looking for investment coins? I would look for higher grade coins as investments.
Nice coin! Will PCGS still grade these half cent coins if a small amount of corrosion is present or must they be submitted through companies like ANACS or ICG? We don't want to pay the extra $ to PCGS just for ours to come back only marked "genuine".
