1794 NC-7

    The unique 1794 NC-7 according to Heritage has: "The edge was lettered twice, once with the 1793 edge device, and a second time with the 1794 edge device"

    I have no idea what that means.

    I would imagine that the lettering on the edge was different in 1793 and 1794. This unique variety likely has both.

    Sounds interesting,Sheldon NC7 was changed to Sheldon 20a.

    2. Lettered: ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR with one leaf after DOLLAR, leaf points up

    Designer:
    Robert Scot . I Wonder what device they used? Were they struck in a collar or another type of edge lettering device?

    They were not struck in a collar, the edge inscription was applied to the planchet before striking by rolling it between two edge dies each of which contained half of the inscription.
