Here is a 1793 Wreath cent, S-9 variety. My second S-9. Bought from B&M's Bebee sale i think in 1986. Not a highlight of that sale, but still nice. Described as i remember as F/FV with minutely porous surfaces. Liberty on the obverse very faint due to striking. Pleasant notheless, but what do i need to S-9's for? Eduard
Eduard: One suggestion, and feel free to tell me to mind my own business), actually two: 1) I would get copies of all of the auction catalogues to maintain the provenance of the pieces, and keep them with these beautiful coins. 2) I's get PCGS to slab them, along with the noted provenance. You have some beautiful stuff there and the provenance will enhance the values when it come time to sell (hopefully not for a very long time).
Treas, quite on the contrary, i really appreciate your advice. I have managed to save most of the sales catalogues from which i bought some of my coins. Unfortunately some were lost (talk to my wife) during our many moves, but i retained the sales tickets at least. I still have a lot of fun looking at these old catalogues. Concerning having my coins encapsulated; yes, i really want to but don't know how, living abroad. Customs at the airport (both ways) would be a problem. I will have to figure out a way. Take care. I wish you a happy Christmas season. Eduard
Eduard: Remind me next week and I will post a link for a place that sells old catalogues, w/PR for reasonable amounts. Some as little as $3 each, plus tons of postage to Europe.
AMAZINGLY COOL COIN. The porosity doesn't bother me much on this coin. Remember, the EAC guys are much more accepting of these types of issues, and just about all of them have porosity issues to some degree. A type I've been searching for years now, and I hope that when I do, I'm able to find as nice of an example. Thanks for sharing your collection, Eduard....Mike
