Just finished reading about a women who brought in over 200 coins to a coin shop in Auburn Maine. One of the coins was a 1793 large cent known as "strawberry leaf" because of a trefoil sprig design. There are reportedly only 4 of these coins known to exist.

The coin had been in the collectors family since 1941 when it was purchased for $2750. The coin will be auctioned off by American Numismatic Rarities as part of the Baltimore Coin Convention. It is estimated that the coin will draw bids of six figures.

I really enjoy the stories associated with coins. I understand that this coin was purchased by a young man who then went into the military - drafted I think. He was killed in action in the Pacific. Makes for a great story. I wonder how much is really true.
