Here is something I just picked up at the Long Beach show. It's a one year type coin. While not necessarily a rare coin in itself, even in unc condition, this example is much more unusual in the fact it is fully and deeply prooflike on both sides. A quick search on this coins shows that there have been several unc examples that has sold over the past few years and an NGC MS64 PL sold in the Millennia sale for $2,990. No other DPLs that I found.
Wow! It's absolutely beautiful! Although I'm not really into German Coins, this one is really attractive. Nice pick up! :thumb:
Don't collect such old pieces myself, but I like seeing such city views on coins. Especially if they are well done, like here, and even more so if the piece is in great condition, like here. Thanks for photographing and posting it! Christian
Beautiful example of that PL. I don't have many foreign coins (maybe 4 at most) but I am studying about them to start a nice collection.
Saturday seemed very light traffic. Typical tire kickers. I was told by a couple of dealers that Thursday and Friday were good to very good sale days for them - much better than expected. Heard several WTF comments about the auctions which was my impression also. Nicer coins selling for less than their lower graded counterparts. Some common stuff going for insane money. Lots of things just didn't make sense.
Picked up an 1849 British India proof 1/2 Rupee which was from the Pittman collection. Also picked up a 1912 India Sailana 1/4 Anna in proof and another in gem full red BU. That's not a coin you see often in either of those conditions. I was told that they were off the market for over 20 years.
