A significant donation has been made to the ANA Museum. I can't wait to see this coin!! [h=1]Money Museum Receives Historically Significant Coin[/h]
The question is, is this the same 1792 half disme that was stolen from the museum (Which would make it a return and not a donation) or a different one?
If one were to closely examine the pictures of this coin from the news release about the theft and the release about the donation one might reach the conclusion that they are. Just my opinion after examining enlargements of the pics provided by the ANA.
I read the full article in my e-mail and they said this one is in far better condition than any the museum had owned in the past.
Still, the security within the ANA organization must be extremely relaxed. For all this time and years, they have had valuable numismatic items in their posession, you would think taking care of them would be a number one priority. Leadership there must think it's someone elses job to do it. This is a very poor example to give to the collector community. No matter what is said, they were asleep at the wheel.
