Hello everyone I'm new to the forums, found this in the bottom of my desk at work. Anyone have any ideas if its real or the value of it. Thanks!!!
I see nothing to make me think the coin is not genuine, but there are some very good fakes out there. I would get the coin weighed - you need the weight in this form XX.xx grams. However some of the chop marks do not look exactly genuine to me, but I am far from any expert on chop marks and could easy be wrong on that count. As for value, it would be minimal, depending on the potential buyer. Some collectors see chop marks as damage to the coin while yet other collectors actively seek them out. But the condition of the coin, it's very worn and it has a bad rim bruise, would hold the value down. I suspect less than $50.
