Hi, My first time here, I came across two coins, just was wondering if someone could pass along some insight. Thanks in advance. One coin is the New Hampshire half penny 1776, a bit on the heavy side and bronze in color. The second coin is very light, gold in color, one side says: California 1850 Ten Dollars, has a cowboy on a horse with a Lasso, the other side has an eagle and it states Baldwin & Co, San Francisco. The second coin does not feel real, more like a token, but any answers are most welcome! rufus321
Howdy rufus - Welcome to the Forum !! I'd be willing to bet that both of the coins you are asking about are replicas. I say that because both are somewhat rare - and very expensive. The Baldwin coin is like $150,000 expensive. If you can post pics and possibly weigh & measure both coins and report that here, I may be able to offer a more definitive answer.
GDJSMP, I am sure you are right, in that both coins are replicas, but I will see what I can do about getting pictures for you. I do not have a digital camera, but they have disposals. And I will take them to work I have a scale that measure in oz. Thanks again for the info. It would be nice if they were real! Even if they are replicas, they are very cool looking coins. I have a lot of silver dimes and silver quarters, a couple of silver certificates. But they are very common, compared to these two coins- at least to me. rufus321
Well I certainly agree that they are pretty cool lookin coins - especially the Baldwin piece, it's been a dreamed of favorite of mine for years
GDJMSP, Cool! I can see why, you would like it. I will see about getting a picture posted. Thanks. rufus321.
hey I got the same problem I was remodeling my house when I found some coins in the wall one is that dang 1776 newhampshire 1/2 penny. my coin does not say copy so either its fake or its simply a replica from before 1973 let me know if ya find anything and ill let you know
I also have one, but i have PICS!! Also a new user, saw this post and thought i'd jump in and post my pics. My mom gave me this, said she has had it for over 30 years. Not sure if there are records of dates/years that duplicates were made. got a few pics(front an back). with and without flash(flash shows more detail, no flash shows the actual coloring on the coin right now, it has not been cleaned) Any help would be greatly appreciated
