At what point between leaving the coining chamber and reaching the loading dock could this have happened at the mint facility? Chris
Ever fall off your bike and scrape your shoulder? The same thing happened to this coin. Not an error.
I'm particularly enticed by the reverse. The subject was so famous that they blurred the face to have him remain anonymous!
It didn't happen at the mint; it happened long after it went into circulation (note the wear and obvious damage from being harshly handled).
My question to everyone, do you save this or put it back in Circulation? These are getting harder and harder to find.
The face was the highest point when the ran the sander/grinder over it. Maybe a misinformed whatever testing to see if clad or silver.
Then it wouldn't be considered "Post Strike Damage" as @2Old said. That is the point I was making which seems to have escaped you. Chris
You can do whatever you want with your Quarter. But I say to check to see if it's silver or not. Might have a melter! Show us a picture of the edge.
