This looked like a really cool design, so I bought it. It's a German (Mansfeld-Bornstedt) 1/2 Taler minted in Prague. The surfaces are highly prooflike with the relief in cameo.

It just graded MS65PL at NGC.

    nice!

    nice coin.
i have always wanted to get some nice, big, old german coins.
i have seen them in coin shows but stayed with what i needed instead of what i wanted.

Fairly nice coin. I don't like those hairlines in the reverse feild, to me it is overgraded, these coins were very well produced....and a normal uncirculated should look like that, though I see where the grading company is coming from. I am very keen on 17th-18th century coins, but I just can't be bothered to buy many large german coins ( I have 3 german "talers" and a couple of 2/3rds , as I find the minors more interesting.... )
