1773 1/2 Penny, Counterfeit?

    Or is it just a low grade coin? Something about the crudeness of the details left stuck out to me, and I remember finding a connecticut copper in the same lot.

    Difficult to be sure without the weight, but definitely looks contemporary counterfeit to me. By the time of the new copper coins of 1797 there were more counterfeits than genuine coins in circulation in Britain.

    Great - confirms it is contemporary counterfeit. Regal issue at that time is over 9g, up to 9.6g.
