177?? NJ Coin. Idea what it is??

I have this coin from my Dad and can't find it in any book. Is it a token, coin?? It appears to be a 1772, 1777, or 1732?? weak date but,,,

It's not a coin: perhaps some sort of token/memento created out of a coin ? The obverse looks hand engraved.

 

I can't see any date, but looks to be an coat check tag or token.
